Five Things We Learned at NFT NYC 2022

Since its conception in 2019 as a small annual conference, NFT NYC has grown over the years to become one of the most talked-about NFT events of the year. From June, NFT NYC will be the haunt of blockchain and NFT enthusiasts. Regardless of some of the negative outcomes from NFT NYC, it is clear that the event lived up to its hype. Rather than sadness and commiseration around the current state of the NFT market, the event was a massive celebration. As much as the space is driven by online culture, NFT NYC is clear proof of the importance of live events and in-person connection in the NFT space. We are now a week past NFT NYC, the biggest NFT event of 2022. Fortunately, the banner event for the NFT community was a resounding success, with attendees, speakers and event hosts all giving glowing feedback on the conference. Kesia Ramos and Liza Quiñonez celebrate the drop of their curated NFT collection featuring artists Alice Mizrachi, Decertor, Nicole Saglar, and others, with a viewing and party. Best bet on this one is to arrive early, as the venue has limited capacity. (The theme is “The Diversity of NFTs.”) If you didn’t plan ahead for this one, the conference will cost you a pretty penny—last minute tickets cost $849, or $1,999 plus $105.76 in fees for VIP admission. That’s up from $599 if you bought tickets when they first went on sale. It’s becoming less and less clear what Web3 means, or what the value of NFTs will really be in the long haul. But making my way through various crowds of blue-chip NFT owners, I couldn’t find a single person who regretted holding, even as prices fell from the sky. The dissonance between the industry’s participants and promotional underpinnings loomed larger than normal. A DJ spun tracks behind a branded booth throughout the night. While we do not plan to focus on onboarding investors at this event, we are focused on engaging investor interest in existing Harmony ecosystem projects. apes nft is located just a couple of blocks away from the heart of the action for NFT NYC’s conference location. It is a 6500 sq/ft space with beautiful views of the most iconic building in NYC—the Empire State building. For approximately 26k, we will have this venue for a full 96 hours. Thought leaders in NFTs and GameFi will help curate the programming and space. By releasing Sol Shamans, an impressive collection of 7,777 wizards, witches, and stunning shaman NFTs— we are inspiring our community with spiritual technologies and helping make the world a bit better. Each Sol Shaman is a unique digital collectible minted as an ERC-721A NFT. This means low gas fees. One of their main initiatives at NFT.NYC will be programming for #womeninweb3 and female leadership, as well as onboarding women builders and creators in the space through the WGF Women Artists’ Invitational project we started at NFT LA. Right now, NFTs serve as records of digital ownership and enable authentication and verification of asset ownership. In the future, NFTs are slated to expand to become staples of industries as diverse as real estate, insurance, and publishing. Then there were side events in addition to all the official conference events! Almost every popular NFT project organized its own meetup, party, art exhibition or something very special that the world hadn’t seen yet. NFT NYC is one of the few bigger NFT in-person events we’ve been able to have since most COVID lockdowns were lifted, and the interest from the community has been huge. So huge, in fact, that some of the speakers that were supposed to deliver a keynote presentation were merged into panels instead.
